Pearly White - Jorges Lupo

Pearly White

Jorge Luptons VW Lupo

When we first start driving & pass our test we all have dreams & aspirations on what our first car will be, how it will look & what you will do to it..making it your own through smaller details. Now, sometimes these dreams are achieveable, others aren't. To say Jorge Luptons dream was unachieveable isnt exactly true, it was achieveable but just out of reach. We all want something that will look nice & be cool but at the same time as cheap & cheerful as possible.
On passing his test Jorge wanted a VAG, straight away, more specifically a VW Lupo, no questions asked. But unfortunately this was just out of reach! Settling for a Renault Clio instead he'd finally got his first car! Although this did not end well as it ended up upside down in a ditch due to bad road conditions. In need of a car & fast, Jorge stumbled across a bargain on Ebay, an innocent little red metro. After seeing some at shows he did his homeowork, realising how easily they could be modified, & how cheap they were to run Jorge bagged himself a £200 ebay bargain. In Jorges words "It was a shed" he set about ratting it up a little bit by covering panels in stickers, chalk board paint, silly paint schemes, slamming it by emptying the oil suspension tanks & rolling extremely hard as i'd been out in it many a time. It was a fun car to own & he set about getting to shows, cruises & modifying it daily..It had a lot of hate from other scene enthuasists, but, it was different, and at the end of a day you make a car to your ideas, no one else's. Unfortunately due to an unwanted amount of police attention locally this had to go...

After a few carless months he found 'Pearl' on ebay, taking the trip to Barnsley to view it he soon fell in love with it & had to have it, Paying in the area of £1300 he picked up this pearly white Lupo and set about making his mark, which lead to help from fellow lupo owning friends. Bought completely standard straight away Jorge set about the stance & overall sitting of the car. Sitting it on 7 & 8J banded steelies then swiftly adding some retro cool Mercedes wheel trims & coilovers, with them wound down to a nice low yet still reasonably suitable for every day use it now sits how it does, although more lows are on the way with camber & maybe more stretch & poke even! Purchasing a roof rack to go on it too maybe add some cool additions for shows, much like the pair of 13" steelies he has & 2 extra merc trims. Bump strips removed for a cleaner look.

For me the Jorge has the stance dialed in just right, with maybe a few more rear lows & a cheeky bit of negative camber he'll definately be onto a winner with Pearl. The Merc trims are definately something different & ertainly something i've never seen done before which really makes the car stand out from others! Considering that the local area to Jorge is over run by Lupos but no 2 are the same other than colour, no 2 have the same mods & have all been personally fettled & modded by their loving owners, doing there best to make them stand out from any other. For me it's the trims that really set this car, other than that gleaming white paint work the poke from the banded steels this car definately has a good chance of being noticed. After parking it next to another Lupo for a quick Monster energy stop at the Co-op (But forgetting to take a photo) We noticed the smallest different that a simple drop can make to a whole car! Its not about who has he most money to throw at there cars but making improvements through smaller things such as the removing the rub strips, all being said getting a good, clean stance can cost time & most certainly money but looking at Jorge's lupo is just one example thatr you dont need a lot, Banded steels are reasonably cheap these days & seem to be working back onto cars over winter, saving the cleaner, more expensive show shoes in the garage for summer! But i'd be happy to run these as main show wheels, especially with those trims which add a great amount of class to the car..so subtle yet make such a difference & add to the overall clean look Jorge has gone for.

Future Plans involve a possible Lupo 3L bumper swap at some point which can only be imported from Germany as they were never sold or produced over here in the UK. Also soon to come are some Mk4 Golf Recaro's & a Team 280 Momo wheel. Then swapping over the fading plastics for new black items again to make it pop more with the pearly white paint.

Stanced.Imaging would like to thank Jorge for letting us shoot the car in such diffucult conditions with weather changes every 5 minutes & obstructions at locations too. After finding a quiet single track country lane (Which we sort of blocked) we had 20 mins of traffic free shooting before having 5 cars all come down the road in 5 mintues, where another road ran along side to take you to the same place, these cars pulled down towards us, saw what we were doing yet still continued to attempt to pass this way instead of using the parralell road...

Jorge would like to thank All close friends & family for the hours of help provided in searching, purchasing & modifying the Lupo, the Lads over at SquatSquad for all the help & supprt provided & being a 2nd family & all round top lads. It wouldn't be the same if not for them, and lastly but certainly not least important Jorge would like to thank all Haters who only pushed him further into modifying..ever since day one of owning the metro they were there, awaiting Jorges every last move to hate on whatever they could

Peace Out,

Jaks bagged eos

Jak's bagged VW EOS

Static Vs Air....a big debate in the modifying scene which has split the scene in 2! Earning more scene points by running a static low daily driver or simply get the crowds jaw dropping at shows when you pull up at shows & hit that magic button to drop frame. Jak Johnston chose the air option for his VW EOS but there's a slight twist to this love story between man & machine but that'll come later! Its a funny story about how we came across Jak's EOS to feature, i was simply doing some early morning facebook'ing when it came up on my news feed that a friend had shared a cheeky photo of this VAG beauty. I instantly fell in love with this car just from one photo, a photo showing a nice air fitment on some newly refurbished wheels. So anyway I dug deeper doing some slight research on this car looking through Jak's profile then came to the decision to send him a small message asking about if he'd be interested for a feature shoot which he kindly agreed too. Time for the twist, Jak may be running air but he runs a small car club/blog called StayStatic alongside his co-founder Brad Griffith’s... although not all what it seems as non-static rides are also welcome...

Jaks car bug started with a Classic Mini (was adamant on having something different for a first car, rather than your average Corsa). This had the 1.3i engine with a full stainless system. Spat flames too! Wanting more power he eventually moved onto a Saxo VTR, not needing to be modified though as the previous owner had put 4k into it to produce a healthy 147bhp, this was unfortunately written off into the front of a 6 week old Seat Altea FR & resulting in a night in the local hospital for Jak. Staying with Citroën he replaced this with a C2 GT which just had a simple drop on some FK Coils, after a year & blowing the gear box he moved across to JDM in the search of more power, power in the form of the 230bhp Mazda RX8. "The Mazda was insane, but since owning the Mini, I just wanted something old school and I wanted it to be a clean mk2. A few months down the line I ended up sourcing a nice clean example of a Mk3 Golf 3dr Gti 16v", following on with the stance trend it was modified suitably. This is when the VAG bug hit & the search for a new car began...

Jak... "The Eos came about when I went to the local VW showroom, I was originally after the new Polo (9months ago now). Just wanted something small and cheap so I could go mental on the modifying side. Saw the perfect Polo 'S'. Brand new 1.4 Sport 3dr with all the trick bits on the interior etc. Provisionally put my name on her, walked out to the Golf and saw a 2.0tfsi EOS for 3k cheaper second hand. But defeated the object of cheap to run! They told me they had a diesel equivalent coming in with all the trick interior bits too and was a Sport model. Literally without even seeing the car I put 2k deposit on it and had it a week later. I part exd the Golf Gti and the RX8 to make some more money towards the EOS. Extremely Sad and a happy day."

"Why the Eos? They’re special. Simple. How many do you see standard? And how many modified with Airlift Performance and 19" 3 piece splits rocking 10j rears. Not many! I knew as soon as I saw the petrol variant that if I got the diesel I had to make it look trick and no expense or time was spared in the making."

"All my mods come from nowhere. Ask my close friends, I’ll say I’m after one thing and usually buy something more wild and insane than originally stated! So, I’ll say one future modification to keep the reader gripped. Colour change, don’t know what colour, whether its wrap or paint etc. Who knows, I guess you’ll have to watch this space!"

With such a good tasty spec you must have a favourite on the car? Jak surprisingly responded with
"My favourite thing about the car is the engineering of the roof. Yeah I have air ride an all, but the roof is like something from Transformers, CRAVING FOR SUMMER!!"

Jak would like to give thanks to

Shiv and Sonny from Design4 Automotive and HTS for supplying and fitting my AirLift kit, Mark and Simon from FAB-Finishing for making my wheels look incredible, Howard Cator and Rouncy for the mad amount of man hours spent with me and the NagaSaki Dremel to get the car finished(ish) and sitting pretty at the rear! My mum and my Girlfriend for putting up with the car parts, driveway antics and the huge shopping sprees on tyres and other wheels etc not forgetting the boys at home who have all had chipped in their support and encouragement to the build, thanks to Llea, Brad, Matt B, Tom, Matt G!

Stanced.Imaging would like to give thanks to

Jak for supplying us with such an amazing feature car! Was a dream to shoot & when it pulled outside my house on that cold Saturday evening my jaw dropped. Big thanks to Jak & his mate Howard for the excellent help with the torches (iPhone flashes) in lighting certain areas of the shot as I was on my own! & thanks to them both for taking the drive from Scunthorpe in the cold for the shoot! 2 lads I would happily shoot with again if they requested! P.S readers....if you’re attending UD13 keep your eyes out for this in the main exhibition hall on the Design4 Automotive stand as you have to see this car in the flesh to fully appreciate it!

2013 - Bring It On.

2013

Bring It On

2012 for us was good! Having only the 2 photographers we still managed to build up a good name & reputation of the Stanced.Imaging name. Some great shoots were arranged meeting some amazing car fans with some of the cleanest show cars around. For me the highlight of 2012 was definately Players Show 6.0 down in Essex! With a 3rd photographer now on the team, all major show dates released our cameras are now locked, loaded & ready to shoot the 13' season! Hopefully kicking off with a visit to Ultimate Dubs UK in March!

At the start of January we came across the work of a very talented, Manchester based photographer, Andrew Barlow, 22 from Manchester has quite clearly got a an amazing talent & eye for detail. Which is why we were so happy to have him on board. With himself being a big Light painting fanatic, something never seen before over at S.I HQ it should bring an interesting new style to the team, the work produced & the imapct we make on the sceneany previous or new clients for this year! Looking to shoot more cars than ever with more variety up & down the UK.

We have some big things planned for 2013 so keep your eyes peeled!

But for now i shall leave you with a message from me & the rest of the team at S.I

Prime Example - Jacobs Mk1

Prime Example

Jacob Whitesides super clean Mk1 Golf

Its hard these days to find a clean mk1 let alone one of a 'good road condition' But when we came across Jacob Whiteside's super clean Mk1 Golf at Hulloween cruise 2012 last month I had to know more. After a while i finally managed to track down the owner of this stunning classic. Its the perfect show car, not driven daily if possible but Jacob drove all the way too Newquay in the mk1 for run to the sun this year and definately representing next year!
After arranging a shoot with this OCD clean dub we met on a very windy Sunday morning in Lincoln, arriving at the location to find Jacob already there giving it a quick wipe down ready for its shoot. Also bringing along a very nice Audi A4 B6 on 3SDM 005's & V2 Airlift...it would appear we've just got ourself two shoots in one! Having had a chat with Jacob for 20 mins or so whilst cleaning the cars & waiting for some sun, it finally came out! And seens as both of Stancde.Imaging's toggers were there, we decided to take one car each & get snapping! With a very old industrial estate to play with we had some great backdrops for these show class motors!

But seens as this part of the feature is about this great classic, heres Jacobs story. Jacob had this to say when we asked why a Mk1?
"I've loved dubs from since I can remember, always remember seeing old photos of my dad with several mk1s and since then it has been my dream car! I love the shape of them, just how simple and clean cut the lines of the car are."
Jacob bought this mk1 around a year and a half ago, it came on ats classics and the paintwork wasn't the best! First thing he did was strip the engine and refurb it to make it mechanically sound, as it was driven daily for a year! Next Jacob fitted some coilovers and the bbs and got it sitting right. Treating it serious detail until the paint was at the standard shown.

After adding a few little personal touches here she is today!
"My opinion on volkswagens is that there is one golden rule... "Less is more"
I just kept that in mind and here's what I have a year or so on :)"
We agree with this! So subtle, ticks all the right boxes & still shows a true VW purists touch whilst standing out from the crowds!

We at Stanced.Imaging would like to thanks Jacob for braving the wet, windy weather & bringing out his prime example Mk1 for s to drool over at attack with cameras...
Met an amazing lad, with a great passion for cars, keeping the scene true, its an amazing car! The locations couldn't have been for better! Also a shout out to Alex Robinson for Picking me (Slater) up from Waddington at 9:30am to transport me to shoot, then driving me home again afterwards! You're a star!

Big thanks to my girlfriend for putting up with all the time and effort gone into the golf! Also big thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way such as Kevin Hines, Matt Windsor, Tom CArnaby, stanced.imaging, all my Instagram followers showing the support an everyone who loves volkswagens.

Static Appeal

Static Appeal

Kane Kelly's static slammed Seat Leon

Rolling a low car in the country side can take a lot of patience, not to mention getting used to the constant sump smashing you'll have to endure rolling a static car in Lincolnshire. Kane kelly seems to have adapted well to this! With his Seat Leon 1.6 being Low daily, low enough to pull off a great stance, standing out when parked hard in the middle of Lincoln or rolling through town with the 1.6 burbling away to itsself whilst he plays out some of his favourite beats through his twin kicker subs that sit in the boot. Kane has his stance nailed in his eyes. Being low enough to scrape & draw attention yet also be high enough to drive the rough lincoln roads without damaging the underside too much.

Sitting flush on coilovers & those stand out Mercedes Alphard wheels that really do finish this car off! They really set the stance, will the silver finsish, although running absolutely no stretch,
un-natural camber or poke it doesnt really need it in my eyes, or Kanes for that fact, anyway the car scene is about standing out & creating a car that makes you smile daily, that you are happy with and that you can say "I built this, this is my car, there are many like it, but this ones mine"
So saturday night (2/2/13) We went out to Lincoln for the night with intention of grabbing some moddy late night shots & a spot of light painting, not without grabbing the quick sunset shot shown above^

Onto the light painting, driving round until eventaully finding a nice quiet, industrial spot down Lincolns quiet Beevor Street, a industrial unit with a rather nice big red corregated door which contrasted well against the white paint of Kanes Leon.

Why no girlfriend? Because race car!

Thanks for looking.

Stanced.Imaging - 2012 review

Stanced.Imaging was set up at the start of 2012 with 2 friends sharing the same passion of automotive photography. Both committed to turn a small weekend hobby into a well known UK name in the automotive photography scene. With features for I Heart Haters, a UK blog who feature the UK's best show cars & photographers work. And work being shown in USA on culture blog...JustStance.

We pride ourselves of creating only the best work for our clients. Shooting the best scene stanced cars in the UK. Such as the White Mazda above, these are the types of cars we try to pride ourselves on & work around, as the main style we go for. But we will be happy to shoot anyones car or even bike if they require our services, we are always happy to help.

We have had a wide range of cars to shoot over the past year, having even done 2 motorcycle shoots. But with everything from the RWD Jap Mazda to this FWD dub shown above the scene has proved you can take most cars, slam them, give it some new shoes & nice unique touches and it can be a scene killer. We try to improve & expand on our unique style each time we shoot a car, always out scouting the best locations to shoot these works of art in to best suit each car, as one car may look amazing in one location but not in another. So having a wide array of locations in our book of virtual notes always helps. Always looking for new locations, new cars & new team members we definately have the devotion to make our name one of the biggest, well known & most sought after in the UK & even grab the attention of the USA, who have the biggest scene, so one day to capture the US scene & show them that the UK is just as good if not better!

The team, at the moment we have 2 team members, the Head boss & photographer Slater O'Brien, then head writer & 2nd togger' & head cinematographer Sam Swallow. I (Slater O'Brien) Have been into photography as a small hobby for 7 years but over the past 2 my interest has grown from a hobby into a passion, a way of life & my photography is something i simply could not live without. I shoot on a Canon EOS 50d, with a 17-85mm IS USM, EF 50mm F/1.8 II & 75-300mm III USM lenses, whilst Sam shoots with a Canon 600d with a selection of lenses.

Over 2013 we are aiming to improve greatly, gaining the same respect we did in 2012 & a little more on top. Aiming for regular blog features on others than our own, online magazines, published magazines such as Fast Car magazine, PVW magazine & Japanese performance. USA features too building a name all over the scene as well as in the mid european scenes...

Thank you for reading, hope you enjoyed. For more work please visit www.flickr.com/photos/scobrien & Facebook search "Stanced.Imaging"We are looking forward to providing you with even more amazing work as shown above throughout the year.
